FAG Arti Visive and Craving Art Gallery present Vicinanze – Step In – Never the Same, a contemporary art exhibition taking place on July 24 and 25, 2026, at Palazzo Velli Expo in Rome. Curated by Monica Bisin (Photography section) and Alessia Dei (Painting and Sculpture section), the exhibition stems from a desire to create a journey that connects different forms of expression and brings the public closer to the artists' creative inquiries.

Vicinanze (Proximities) arises from the need to bridge distances: between the artwork and the viewer, between different artistic languages, and between art and everyday life.

The works—spanning photography, painting, sculpture, and performance—are not meant merely to be observed from afar, but to be encountered. The exhibition calls for an approach that is not only physical but also perceptual and emotional. Each piece initiates a relationship—sometimes immediate, at other times slower or quieter, yet always personal.

In this context, art sheds rigidity and preconceptions, becoming more accessible without losing its intensity. It can be a moment of reflection, a flash of recognition, or simply a visual experience that lingers with the viewer. There is no single way to enter this space; everyone finds their own path.

Vicinanze is a space where the boundary between creator and observer blurs. The artwork is not just something to be understood, but something to be experienced. And it is precisely in this encounter that distances—cultural, emotional, and aesthetic—cease to be limitations and become possibilities.

Exploring the relationship between body and space, ROME INTERNATIONAL ART FAIR 2026 reflects on the ongoing process of hybridization between identity and cultural, physical, social, and urban contexts in contemporary society. Through its two curatorial sections—MIXING IDENTITIES and FUTURE LANDSCAPES—the exhibition invites the public to investigate themes of perception, memory, transformation, and the ever-evolving interaction between individuals and the environments they inhabit.

MIXING IDENTITIES examines the hidden dimensions of identity through an immersive journey into the labyrinths of consciousness. Simultaneously, FUTURE LANDSCAPES explores the concept of boundaries—between body, mind, and spirit; between individual and city; between space and soil—transforming everyday surfaces into fluid territories of open, evolving ideas. In this context, the selected artists offer unique perspectives on contemporary existence through deeply personal visual narratives.

With the solo exhibition “LONG WALK FROM AUSTRALIA TO ROME – E ‘ndo so nato, vissuto, cresciuto e pasciuto” (Where I was born, lived, grew up, and was nurtured), artist Giovanni Tozzetti charts a deeply resonant visual journey, sparking a magnetic dialogue between personal lived experience and collective historical memory. The exhibition project unfolds as an open narrative, where geographical coordinates merge with the movements of the soul to redefine the boundaries of contemporary identity. Through this fluid interaction, the exhibition invites the audience to reflect on universal themes such as migration, the concept of home, and the continuous evolution of the self.

The exhibition journey continues into the fluid visual territory of Golshad Hessami’s Suspended Ground, where landscape and emotion converge in a dynamic composition reflecting the ongoing negotiation between inner experience and external reality. Layers of gestural marks and transforming forms generate a sense of instability and change, mirroring the constant interplay between the internal self and the outside world.

Following its great success in Bologna and Milan, the most anticipated exhibition of Spring 2026 arrives in Rome: a showcase dedicated to Jack Vettriano (November 17, 1951 – March 1, 2025), the Scottish artist most beloved by Italian and international audiences.

From February 12 to July 5, 2026, at Palazzo Velli (Piazza S. Egidio 10) in the heart of Trastevere, visitors can admire works that trace the history and career of the recently deceased artist. The exhibition offers an in-depth look at one of the best-selling and most reproduced artists of all time through a journey comprising over eighty works. These include ten oil paintings; unique, certified works on museum-quality paper created specifically for this exhibition; a series of photographs taken in the artist's studio by Francesco Guidicini—the official Sunday Times portraitist whose work is held in the National Portrait Gallery in London; and a video in which Vettriano discusses himself and his stylistic evolution.

The exhibition is organized by Chiara Campagnoli, Deborah Petroni, and Rubens Fogacci of Pallavicini S.r.l., in collaboration with Jack Vettriano Publishing, curated by Dr. Francesca Bogliolo, and held under the patronage of Palazzo Velli.

“AmoRevolmente…” stems from a passion for the ceramic arts—which serve as a source of nourishment—that evolved into an autobiographical narrative and has now become an exhibition event designed to inspire and share what I consider positive values. The “Competition for a Themed Work on the Immaculate Conception” is the first exhibition initiative I have included in the event; this creates an opportunity to support the Lega del Filo d’Oro and San Frumenzio (my parish in the Nuovo Salario district of Rome) through charitable donations, as all artist participation fees will be divided equally between these two organizations. Then there is the concept of “Solo Exhibitions in Dialogue,” featuring the artists' own thoughts and notes regarding their five displayed works—creating a sort of dialogue between the pieces and fostering a deeper understanding of the art itself. These notes will be displayed alongside the artworks. Many artists have welcomed the opportunity to participate in the themed competition on the Immaculate Conception, thereby further contributing to the cause of charity and solidarity. As a tribute and a personal contribution to this event, I am showcasing works by several 20th-century artists whom I admire and whose pieces I have collected; they have deeply resonated with my own sensibilities and inspire me to believe that I, too, might leave a "small trace"—a personal mark—on contemporary art. Among them is Maria Grazia Bornigia (1923–2021), an artist who, as early as 1953, was widely acclaimed for her fantastic works centered on the circus and the realm of the imagination—themes I also explore in my own recent "White & Gold" ceramic works and installations. The selection continues with Giuseppe Castellani (1934–2017), Dario De Blanch (1945–2013), Stanislao Farri (1942–2021), and Elvino Eceoni (1950–2024), concluding with the recently deceased Gianfranco Pirrone and his work Mutteddi a Orgosolo. I had the pleasure of knowing Pirrone and exhibiting his work at events I organized in years past; his art is characterized by a highly tactile quality—specifically in his oil-on-canvas pieces—and serves as a catalyst for reflection.

THE INVISIBLE BETWEEN THE LINES

2nd Edition

Aromata is an international competition and exhibition dedicated to artistic and niche perfumery. The event, promoted by the Rome-based cultural association Libero Stile, was conceived by founding member Laura Amato.

Focusing on the artistic dimension of perfumery, the project aims to celebrate the tangible and intangible heritage of this centuries-old art form and to promote its culture through various activities, including competitions, exhibitions, workshops, lectures, and book presentations.

As the only event of its kind in Rome, this initiative has become an annual occasion where the artistic creativity and sensitivity of master perfumers are highlighted and appreciated on a par with those of renowned composers, great painters, or master jewelers.

Come and discover fragrances created by master perfumers and inspired by the world of literature: a sensory experience, an olfactory journey, a trip around the world, and a voyage through time.

It is a sensory journey through the works of one of the most consistent and talented artists on the Roman scene—accompanied by the words of one of Italy’s most renowned curators—designed to spark a profound, cathartic exploration of the inner self, where art and life intertwine in a fusion of emotions, forms, and narratives.

"ANImATAMeNTE" presents itself as a visual adventure defined by an obsessive mark-making that transforms into body, connection, and family. It is a deeply emotional immersion featuring nearly 100 works that—with concise expression and metaphorical energy—tell the story of an artist with a diverse background and rigorous inner discipline.

India ink, acrylics, watercolors, canvas, and tissue paper; as well as paint markers, pencil, vinyl, and Japanese paper: the variety of techniques and materials fully reflects the eclectic nature of this Roman artist. Her creative frequency captures a cosmic vitalism that draws us in—spanning illustrious roots and leading us into the visionary heart of Lewis Carroll, the nervous bodies of Kiki Smith, and the psychomagic surrealism of Max Ernst.

Through her painted embraces, she reflects—inviting the audience to do the same—on the significance of bodies as agents of emotion and exchange. At the same time, she places these bodies within a habitat where the tree emerges as a symbol of rebirth and life, forging a connection between the human, animal, and plant worlds.

iyoon Oh’s solo exhibition, "TEXTURE VISION," is part of a three-artist show curated by Valeria Cirone and Natalia Gryniuk. Inspired by ancient Wunderkammern—or "cabinets of wonders"—the space transforms into a magical realm where diverse art forms intertwine, creating a unique experience for visitors.

Within this setting, the public has the opportunity to explore works by contemporary artists and engage in stimulating discussions and creative exchanges with artists, curators, writers, and theater actors. Every corner of this "Magic Cabinet" invites visitors to discover, converse, and reflect on art in all its facets.

PAINTING

The upper floor is dedicated to Jiyoon Oh’s solo exhibition, where textural painting merges with abstraction. Oh’s work is grounded in a high-definition canvas that possesses a deeply painterly nature. Her achromatic and monochromatic surfaces align with the modernist pursuit of material research and the exploration of physical surface properties. The artist moves beyond the natural flow of materials—utilizing techniques like drawing, spraying, and spreading—and exerts control by employing mixed pigments with high absorptive capacity to create irregularities or manipulate the materials. The achromatic surface, which readily absorbs materials due to the canvas's absorbent nature, initially seems to contrast with the flatness of the textured and raised areas; yet, it soon harmonizes and becomes one with the overall composition. Here, the artist incorporates elements such as gold, jade, and diamond-like finishes, striving for perfection through intelligent forms or geometric motifs while simultaneously conveying a message of hope and light. Ji-yoon Oh’s paintings clearly reveal the characteristics of abstract painting, starting with the rejection of the atypical forms pursued by Art Informel—that is, avoiding the shapes we commonly recognize as such. Yet, nature is present in her work; life is vibrant, exuding a painterly charm that prompts reflection on the gap between reality and ideals.

This work explores the soul of the street—a place where unwritten rules define life and where everyone finds their own role. The street is not merely a physical thoroughfare but a microcosm reflecting the experiences, challenges, and aspirations of those who inhabit it daily. The project aims to tell the stories interwoven within this urban setting, offering an intense, multifaceted visual representation of the culture that thrives amidst asphalt and concrete. It captures everything from faces etched by hardship and the scars of life to the artistic expressions of graffiti artists and tattooists—figures who transform the street into a canvas and, through their work, become storytellers of its raw, vibrant energy.

Giunto alla sua quarta edizione il Freedom Of Expression sbarca nel cuore di Roma a Trastevere.
Tre giornate, dove si potrà vedere una mostra d'arte collettiva che conta più di 40 artisti, assistere ad un'estemporanea d'arte dal vivo e godere di numerosi concerti musicali in cui gli spettatori e gli addetti ai lavori si troveranno al centro di un ambiente dinamico e creativo.

La direzione artistica dell'evento vede il fondatore e artista della Hawana Family - Luca Pepe, alla selezione dei numerosi artisti che sono stati concentrati in quattro grandi macrocategorie: Poster-art o Billboard-art, Graffiti, Pittura e la Puppet art. Alcuni degli artisti in mostra si esibiranno dal vivo nella realizzazione delle loro opere su apposite strutture create ad hoc per l'evento, in modo tale da trasmettere allo spettatore il piacere di assistere al processo creativo di ideazione di un'opera d'arte.
Il format del Freedom Of Expression include anche la musica che accompagnerà l'interno evento in ognuna delle tre giornate attraverso musicisti, cantanti e band musicali che si esibiranno dal vivo. Le blue note del Jazz si fonderanno alla musica funk e alle strofe dei cantanti e alle barre dei rapper-special guest dell'evento.

Reflections 2024: Sino-Italian Contemporary Art Rome Exchange Exhibition

In the ancient and magnificent city of Rome, art—much like Italy’s long history—endures unbroken, constantly renewing itself. China, an ancient Eastern nation with a five-thousand-year-old civilization, also boasts a profound artistic tradition; from the deep artistic concepts of ink painting to the exquisite craftsmanship of ceramic sculpture, all of it showcases the unique charm of Chinese culture. Although the artistic traditions of the two countries stem from different cultural landscapes, they have drawn inspiration from and influenced one another throughout their respective developmental paths, weaving together a colorful tapestry of human civilization.

In 1931, Fu Lei—a Chinese translator and literary critic—traveled to Italy as the secretary of the "Association of Chinese Artists in France." According to research by Mr. Liu Zhixia, "Fu Lei departed by train, passing through the French border town of Modane to enter Italy on March 23; he returned by train on May 7, traveling from Milan through the Swiss town of Brig, transferring in Lausanne, and re-entering France via Vallorbe that same day." During his two months in Italy, he visited Rome, Naples, Pompeii, and Sicily, among other locations. Fu Lei’s 1931 journey not only bore witness to the long-standing tradition of artistic exchange between China and Italy but also set an example for future artists to transcend national boundaries and explore the very essence of art.

Today, standing at the new starting point of "digital globalization," we host the "Reflections 2024: Sino-Italian Contemporary Art Rome Exchange Exhibition" to carry forward this transcendent artistic bond, enabling Chinese and Italian artists to meet once again in Rome and write a new chapter in art together. 18 artists in dialogue

On Saturday, July 6, 2024, "Around Rome"—a major new exhibition promoted by Arte Borgo Gallery—opens to the public.

The exhibition is hosted across five prestigious Roman venues: Palazzo della Cancelleria Vaticana, Galleria della Biblioteca Angelica, Palazzo Velli Expo, Museo Venanzo Crocetti, and Arte Borgo Gallery; it is driven by a desire to contribute to the city's cultural development.

Conceived by Anna Isopo, the project aims to deepen the perception of contemporary art by expanding the dialogue between colors, materials, and forms—elements that establish a connection with history, the viewer, and the local territory.

It offers a profound narrative set against a backdrop of historical and cultural grandeur amidst Rome’s magnificent beauty. "Around Rome" serves as a catalyst for exploring themes and questions, allowing artists to convey their messages while showcasing their work to an international audience of enthusiasts and industry professionals. “Nowhere”

Andrea Romagnoli’s first solo exhibition, curated by Yuliya Galycheva, featuring a critical text by Laura Catini.

The exhibition presents a series of new works characterized by expressive, free, and fluid brushwork. These pieces combine the immediacy of acrylic on paper with a contemplative dimension, converging on a quest to capture the essence and power of nature.

Romagnoli’s compositions explore the dynamic interplay of form, color, and movement, creating a visual dialogue that invites viewers to reflect on "non-places" and the interconnectedness of elements.

The artist states: "My painting is a personal journey through the emotions and experiences I encounter in unexplored places—experiences I feel compelled to let flow like volcanic lava."

Drawing on the tradition of Central European Abstract Expressionism (the artist is of Italian-Czech heritage), Andrea Romagnoli’s works evoke the raw energy and creative freedom of artists like Willem de Kooning and Joan Mitchell. They blend impressions of physical reality with an intimate, existential resonance that vibrates within a rarefied, atmospheric space.

In Romagnoli’s work, the realm of feeling permeates visual consciousness, guiding the act of painting into territories where every brushstroke is a purely visceral expression, unencumbered by conceptualization.

Inspired by Mark Rothko—who viewed art as an adventure into an unknown world, accessible only to those willing to take risks—Romagnoli invites us to explore his own "unknown" through abstract compositions rich in gestural energy, painterly imperfections, and experimentation. The two large halls, expertly arranged by Yuliya Galycheva, will create a visual journey defined by the interplay between volumes and forms, as well as the complementarity of immersive elements and open space—cementing an artistic partnership between the painter and the curator that has spanned 15 years.

Bio

Andrea Romagnoli (Rome, 1974) received his artistic training at the "Porta Blu" studio under master Alberto Parres. He divides his time between serving as artistic director of the contemporary art gallery Curva Pura in Rome, creating his own paintings, and undertaking Arctic expeditions.

He has participated in various group exhibitions in Milan, Biella, and Rome, and is currently preparing a two-person exhibition at the Spinnerei in Leipzig.

Palazzo Velli Expo per il suo decennale, è orgogliosa di presentare la mostra personale "Legami" dello street artist Luca Valerio D’Amico, a cura di Valeria Cirone.

Un evento poliedrico e coinvolgente, che fonde diverse forme d'arte per creare un'esperienza unica. Offrendo al pubblico una varietà di stimoli, dalle performance teatrali ai live painting passando per le esposizioni di origami giganti.

Un interessante approccio alla relazione tra gli esseri umani e la loro capacità di connettersi con gli altri viene indagata all'interno della mostra. Attraverso una serie di opere d'arte che esplorano il concetto di legame, l'esposizione offre al pubblico una riflessione profonda sulla natura umana e sulle relazioni interpersonali.

Le opere di Luca Valerio D’Amico mostrano una varietà di interpretazioni del concetto di legame, sia esso legato alla famiglia, all'amicizia o all'amore. Alcune opere si focalizzano sulle emozioni che scaturiscono dai legami, mentre altre esplorano il senso di appartenenza e di reciproco sostegno che i legami possono offrire. L'allestimento crea un dialogo visivo e concettuale tra di loro. Un’alternanza di lavori, dove il tratto distintivo di Luca Valerio D’Amico gioca con il micro e con il macro della tela. Un dialogo visivo che abbraccia il bidimensionale ed il tridimensionale. L'illuminazione e l'ambientazione contribuiscono a creare un'atmosfera suggestiva e coinvolgente, che invita il pubblico a immergersi nelle opere esposte e a riflettere sul significato dei legami nella propria vita.

La combinazione di spettacoli di recitazione e live painting, aggiunge un interessante dimensione emotiva e narrativa alla mostra, permettendo al pubblico di immergersi completamente nelle storie raccontate dagli attori mentre gli artisti dipingono in tempo reale. Questa interazione tra teatro e pittura crea un'atmosfera dinamica e coinvolgente, che trasforma lo spazio espositivo in un palcoscenico vivente. Gli origami di Barbara Rossetti, in arte JustB world - My paper poetry, aggiungono un tocco di magia e meraviglia all'evento, trasformando lo spazio con le loro forme intricatamente piegate ed impreziosite dal tratto di Luca Valerio D’Amico. Un concetto importante per la cultura giapponese è quello della perenne trasformazione della materia: nulla è fisso, tutto si trasforma. Concetto che è alla base anche di queste sculture di carta. La flessibilità degli origami e del loro modo di essere fa sì che ogni cosa sia vista solo come un momento del suo continuo cambiamento. Il processo è un continuo “divenire”, la materia si trasforma in qualcosa di diverso, piega dopo piega. Una connessione ed un legame con la tradizione e la manualità, invitando il pubblico a esplorare la bellezza e la complessità della creazione artistica.

L'esposizione "Legami" promette di essere un'esperienza multisensoriale che celebra la diversità delle espressioni artistiche ed invita il pubblico a riflettere sui legami che ci uniscono come individui e come comunità.

On March 15, the photography exhibition "Glimpses of the World" (*Sguardi dal Mondo*)—a solo show by Riccardo Acerbi curated by Ludovica Palmieri—opens at Palazzo Velli.

Commissioned and produced by Alberto de Marinis—a patron and art enthusiast—and open to the public until March 23 (10:00 AM – 6:00 PM), the exhibition features a substantial body of photographs and two video installations. These works take visitors on a metaphorical journey through various countries that hold special significance for the artist.

Italy, the United States, Brazil, England, South Africa, and Eastern Europe are portrayed through the lens of Riccardo Acerbi—an actor by profession and a photographer by passion. His images are intimate and often quiet; the artist seeks to capture specific situations and moments of life rather than offering the loud, spectacular depictions of iconic landmarks typically seen elsewhere. As a self-taught photographer who has always felt a deep symbiosis with his camera, Acerbi’s approach is immersive, immediate, and spontaneous.

A powerful sense of freedom—stemming from his philosophy of life—emerges from his work, manifesting in a photographic style free from dogma, convention, or technical rigidity. For this seasoned traveler, the camera is a tool to give voice and visual form to what he sees and experiences. In his work, substance prevails over form, and creative urgency and passion take precedence over technical perfection. It does not matter if a frame is imperfect or an image slightly blurred; what counts is blending into reality, living the moment, and literally capturing the hic et nunc—the here and now. The artist achieves and amplifies this goal by eschewing multiple exposures. Indeed, despite using an SLR camera, each work is the product of a single shot—as if the purity of his gaze were imprinting itself directly onto the photographic paper, unfiltered. This creative process imbues the images with the genuine freshness that permeates the exhibition. Conversely, the meticulous printing technique creates an oxymoron, sparking an emotional resonance that captivates the viewer. There is nothing premeditated in Acerbi’s photographs; everything simply unfolds. The subtle differences that emerge in his depictions of various countries thus stem from a sense of freedom.

The year is 1863. Swiss painter Arnold Böcklin is in Rome for his second stay in Italy. While known and appreciated in artistic circles, he has not yet achieved the level of renown he desires.

One day, however, he secures a meeting with the wealthy and powerful Lord Carl Michael Worthington-Ascott Grey—the British ambassador to Rome and an affable patron of the arts. Lord Grey is fascinated by Böcklin’s work and commissions a unique piece: a painting of his seaside villa (currently under renovation) that must also feature his beautiful wife, Lady Francesca, depicted as Diana the Huntress.

But Arnold harbors a secret: since boyhood, he has been tormented by visions of a mysterious figure that may well be Death itself.

The Creature appears to him in ever-changing guises—sometimes hooded, at other times as a sensual young woman, or even as a corpse with a worm-eaten face. Its presence is always heralded by the sound of a violin playing the same melody: a hauntingly beautiful, poignant tune that only the painter seems able to hear...

✒️ Francesca Basso

Born in Monza in 1988 and raised in Rome, she earned a Master’s degree in Art History in 2013 and a Master’s degree in Psychology in 2019. Passionate about contemporary art and Symbolism, she has a particular fascination with the intersection of art and psychology. To pursue this passion, she founded "The Blue Drop" in 2020, a blog dedicated to these themes. During the... ...pandemic, she began outlining the plot of L’ultima corda di violino (The Last Violin String), drawing inspiration from Arnold Böcklin’s famous 1872 painting Self-Portrait with Fiddle-Playing Death. In 2023, she officially qualified as an art therapist—a role she had already been practicing for three years, working between Italy and the Czech Republic. She lives in Prague with her family.

This is her debut novel, published by AFFIORI.

The Masquerade offers a comprehensive reconstruction of the 1970–1980 decade—the darkest and bloodiest period Italy experienced during the Cold War. It is the product of a unique collaboration between Maurizio Fiorentini, a leader of a Roman Autonomia Operaia collective, and investigative writer Roberto Valtolina.

A rarity in the realm of non-fiction, the book unfolds in reverse chronological order, tracing the path from the aftermath of the Moro affair back to the early gestation of "Red terrorism." It examines events and figures one by one: investigators, suspects, state apparatuses, magistrates, politicians, militants, movements, victims, and spies. It avoids shortcuts, logical leaps, easy concessions, and conspiracy theories. Instead, it presents a compelling narrative driven by facts, set against the backdrop of the clash between Cold War blocs—a "dirty war" that did not end on November 9, 1989, but continues to this day.

Craxi, Feltrinelli, Moro. The first—through two explosive letters sent to Italy’s top state officials before fleeing to Tunisia—exposed the raw nerve of the relationships between the Eastern Bloc, a faction of the Italian Left, and terrorism. The second—an eccentric billionaire publisher—forged an ideological chain that led the Red Brigades (BR) to carry out "Operation Fritz." The third—a victim of the geopolitical balance established at Yalta and the policy of "firmness"—was kidnapped by the BR. His captors kept a foreign navy badge in their hideout on Via Gradoli. This is the most sensational new detail revealed by The Masquerade—a fact inexplicably overlooked by the intelligence chiefs of the time, Interpol, the Rome Police Headquarters, five trials, two Moro Commissions, and even the three parliamentary commissions on Terrorism, the P2 lodge, and the Mitrokhin Archive. Many key figures from that era—some of whom stayed in the Via Gradoli apartment—are still alive, and it is time for them to speak out: if not before magistrates, then at least to the public.

"The Twenty-Second Woman" is a delicate yet profound monologue.

I directed this show, and whenever I think of a single word to describe it, the same one always comes to mind: sincere.

It is a monologue by a woman, for other women, that pulls no punches—one that compels you to experience it fully from start to finish, without ever looking away.

To mark the September 8th release of their album Lovebars, Coez and Frah Quintale will meet fans and sign copies of the record in Rome on Saturday, September 9th, at 3:30 PM.

During this unconventional in-store event, alongside meeting the two artists, fans can visit a unique exhibition of works by artist Daniele “Bufer” Attia, who created the original paintings for the Lovebars cover and the album's entire visual artwork.

The exhibition will showcase not only the art Bufer created for the Lovebars project but also other pieces from his portfolio.

Lovebars is released on September 8th via Undamento/Prodacto (licensed to Carosello Records/Warner Music) and is available for pre-order in four exclusive physical formats: CD (including an autographed version), vinyl, special orange vinyl, and a CD + T-shirt bundle.

The idea for this collaborative album stems from the mutual artistic and personal respect shared by Coez and Frah—two deeply emotional, sincere, and unfiltered personalities.

United by a decade-long friendship, Coez and Frah Quintale come together for this new project driven by an undeniable artistic chemistry that arises naturally from their deep familiarity with one another. They have previously demonstrated a shared musical vision and a bond that allows them to spontaneously create hit songs; for instance, they re-recorded “Nei treni la notte”—originally a Frah Quintale track from the album Regardez Moi (2017)—for the From The Rooftop 2 (2022) project. BORDER VISIONS

Solo Exhibition by Paolo Asaro

Conceived and curated by Simona Micheli of the FRAM!LAB Cultural Association, and held under the patronage of Rome’s Municipality I (City Centre), this art exhibition presents a pictorial narrative steeped in intimate, evocative imagery—a fusion of outer and inner landscapes straddling two worlds, at the boundary between Europe and Africa.

The title "Border Visions" (*Visioni di Frontiera*) highlights the significance of artistic creation within a "middle ground"—a land imbued with a history of cultural intermingling, unions, and convergences that give shape to a rich, vibrant artistic expression.

In the works of this Sicilian artist, brushstrokes transform into multifaceted marks of dreamlike narratives, where familiar places blur into imagined ones. His painting style—characterized by intricate layering on textured surfaces and a variety of techniques—features details that evoke the natural elements of a land buffeted by the fury of various contradictions. Mediterranean and Eastern influences merge with contemporary European aesthetics to create a visual language defined by a unique, highly original style, establishing Asaro as one of the most compelling contemporary Sicilian artists. Curator Simona Micheli also aims to present the Roman public with the 78 tarot cards titled "I Trionfi del Regno di Sicilia" (The Triumphs of the Kingdom of Sicily). These cards—illustrated by Paolo Asaro and produced and published by Dal Negro in May 2022—are a clear expression of the island's multicultural and multi-ethnic influences, centering on key figures from the Arab-Norman Kingdom of Sicily.

As they move through the elegant rooms of Palazzo Velli, visitors can admire 98 of the artist's works: 20 of his most recent paintings—created in oil on canvas between 2011 and 2022, following his return to Sicily—and the evocative set of 78 tarot card illustrations.

THE ARTIST

A complex and multifaceted artist, Paolo Asaro was born in Mazara del Vallo on October 22, 1967. He attended the Art High School and the Academy of Fine Arts in Palermo, graduating in 1990. Notable highlights of his career include his sculptural works from the 1990s, the 2006 founding of the independent audiovisual production label ZerKaloVideo in Brescia, and his role in establishing the "Scuola di Mazara" (Mazara School) alongside other artists in 2020.

For its 4th edition, OPEN GALLERY goes digital, focusing on the new frontiers of digital art. Works by Italian and international artists will be on view on October 21, 22, and 23, 2022, at leading contemporary art galleries across Rome and the Lazio region that have joined the initiative.

Open Gallery Digital is a three-night event dedicated to digital visual arts, during which various contemporary art galleries host video art pieces by emerging Italian and international artists. It offers young contemporary art talents the opportunity to showcase their work while connecting with gallerists. Galleries will remain open at night to create an exclusive viewing experience that highlights the event, the artists, and the galleries themselves—allowing the public to explore and discover these spaces through the circuit.

The fusion of visual art and technology transforms video art into a cutting-edge form of audiovisual expression. By utilizing a new multimedia language—comprising images, sound, video, and performance—it can reach a wide audience.

The event’s artistic focus lies in multimedia visual arts and video art. Exhibitions will range from visual art to installations, creating a dynamic and diverse experience that broadens the scope of the selection and fosters greater interaction among the public, artists, and galleries.

The project aims to open a window onto video art, bringing it into the unique setting of art galleries. It offers a comprehensive vision that goes beyond the isolated digital artwork one might occasionally encounter in a museum or gallery. The project is a curated journey featuring a selection of works by young, internationally acclaimed artists from around the globe. They bring with them their unique artistic languages ​​and diverse perspectives on the world, viewed through the lens of art from every corner of the planet. From Italy to South Africa, and from China to Israel, the selected artists will showcase their work and engage with the Eternal City over two nights of art.

The 2022 edition of OPEN GALLERY spans Rome and the Lazio region, focusing on the most compelling digital audiovisual productions and video art.

This initiative encourages a cultural, social, and urban movement, inviting visitors to roam the streets of Rome—admiring its beauty—and travel to the city's outskirts, where some of the participating galleries are located.

The opening performance will take place on Saturday, October 8, at 4:00 PM at the Goethe-Institut Rome, while the exhibition opening (vernissage) will be held on October 10 at 6:00 PM at Palazzo Velli Expo.

The exhibition will be open to visitors during the German Language Week in Rome—from Monday, October 10, to Monday, October 17—between 10:00 AM and 5:00 PM, or by appointment.

Scheduled events include a “Focus on Jos Diegel” on October 14 at 6:00 PM at Atelier Montez, and an evening dedicated to short films on October 16 at 6:00 PM at Palazzo Velli Expo in Trastevere. These films—*In Esistente* by Gio Montez and Bello ciao by Jos Diegel—were created by the two artists for the aforementioned festival. Both shorts were filmed in Rome’s Municipality IV and share some cast members; both explore the expressive limits of audiovisual and cinematic media. The lead actor in both films is Claudio Di Paola, joined by Giulia Goro, Ludovico Fremont, Alessio De Caprio, Antonio Bilo Canella, and many others. The Eselsbrücke catalog, published by Il Varco Editore, will be a hybrid of static and dynamic content—a “phygital” (physical-digital) catalog. It features an introduction and critical analysis by art historian Marcella Magaletti and Andreas Krüger, Head of the Cultural Department at the German Embassy in Rome.

ARTWORKS BECOME TOKENS – The exhibition will subsequently move online, where it can be viewed on the Atelier Montez website and art shop, and where the paintings will be available for purchase. All the exhibited artworks will be tokenized by Artup Srl, representing the very first experimental edition of "phygital NFTs" ever produced; this allows for the digital purchase and transfer of ownership via digital certificates issued by ARTup. The "Art Coefficient" is assigned to the artists by BART AI—the world’s first Digital Art Advisor for contemporary artists. Palazzo Velli Expo will host the exhibition "Scomparizione" by Giorgio Abkhasi.

For the very first time, the public will have the opportunity to view the artworks of Giorgio Abkhasi, one of the most renowned Georgian artists active in Europe during his time.

Giorgio Abkhasi was one of the most famous Georgian artists of his era in Europe. His work revolutionized Italian culture in the 20th century, and his contributions to Italian art and set design remain highly significant. Although more than 128 years have passed since his birth, his name endures, and his creations remain relevant today.

He was a modernist set and costume designer, as well as a founding figure of the Italian School of Scenography. A progressive and socially active thinker, he approached both his diplomatic missions and his work in set design with brilliance and creativity.

Giorgio Abkhasi was born in 1892 in Manglisi, Georgia, the second son of Prince Giorgio Abkhasi (1855–1901).

His ancestors were noble princes who left Abkhazia in the 17th century to escape Muslim oppression, settling in the village of Kardanakhi in Kakheti. Throughout this migration, the Abkhasi family retained its princely title. Giorgio also held noble lineage on his mother's side, as she was a descendant of the Von Benckendorff family. From 1930 onwards, Abkhasi collaborated actively with numerous theaters and creative groups in Rome and Milan. He served as the artistic director for many productions and undertook various roles within the theater world. He acted as a co-director and co-creator, crafting extraordinary atmospheres through his set designs and costumes. Over his thirty-year creative career, he designed sets for more than 50 theatrical productions and created costumes for both stage and screen. Abkhasi also worked as an illustrator for various Italian books and magazines.

In Soviet Georgia, Abkhasi’s work in Italy was unknown; worse still, even mentioning his name was forbidden. With the close of the 1980s and the rise of the national movement from the ashes of the Soviet Union, the names of those who fought for the country's independence were restored to prominence.

The largest collection of Giorgio Abkhasi’s work is held in the archives of the Rome Opera House. Thanks to the support of Dr. Alessandra Malusardi—an official at the Rome Opera House—we now have the opportunity to showcase his contribution to European art and to celebrate, once again in his homeland, the name of a talented creator who had been unjustly forgotten.

“Dopo Tutto” is the solo exhibition by Emanuele Parmegiani. Following the recent publication of a catalogue by Maretti Editore—curated by Alberto Dambruoso—the exhibition presents a body of work at Palazzo Velli that illustrates the artist's feverish creative exploration over the last few years.

Emanuele Parmegiani is—to use the curator’s words—an instinctive, explosive, visionary, genuine, and tenacious painter. Although he came to realize his artistic identity relatively late, he has since thrown himself wholeheartedly into art, embracing all the risks the craft entails. A pure, self-taught artist, Parmegiani has experimented with diverse techniques, methods, and media; through just a few years of ceaseless work, he has developed a highly distinctive expressive style that has garnered the attention of curators and critics alike.

Ilaria Pisciottani leads us on a personal journey—one of scandalous intimacy, yet simultaneously shared and collective—through signs, traces, symbols, and emotions that bring us back to the deepest dimension of the Self.

Curated by Valeria Cirone, the exhibition explores the theme of memory through the photographer’s introspective gaze. It examines the interplay between individual and collective memory, the sensory perceptions linked to it, and the effects it produces on consciousness and knowledge.

Memory: the intimate repository of every human being, the ideal space for selecting and archiving fragments of life.

A vessel for the sum of one’s memories. It is not merely a concept of memory, but the capacity to preserve a more or less complete trace of external stimuli derived from experience—and to recall them once those stimuli have ceased, recognizing them as past states of consciousness.

The very nature of memory presents itself as a force field where memories are defined by the boundaries of oblivion. It is a process of selecting, cutting, and dissecting lived experiences—an interplay of forces that gives rise to subjectivity, connecting the fundamental concepts of “identity,” “time,” and “consciousness.” “One’s own time”—so often denied in a contemporary world driven by rapid, frenetic spatiotemporal vectors; denied to reflection and knowledge; and imprisoning the freedom of the gaze within easy stereotypes and a simplistic framework born of forgetfulness—or indeed, oblivion itself.

Identity, time, and memory intertwine, taking on an intimate dimension where the past blends with the present through constant echoes that serve as a warning for future actions, becoming the ideological hallmark of Pisciottani’s work.

RECORDIS—meaning to remember, to revisit the realm of the heart—seeks to offer an opportunity to reflect on the nature of contemporary humanity. It is an invitation to reclaim one’s own space and time, and a stimulus to rethink the human being in relation to the past—a relationship that inevitably reflects upon the present.

The exhibition is part of Rome Art Week (RAW 2021), an annual event dedicated to showcasing contemporary art in all its forms within the Eternal City, highlighting the coexistence of the ancient and the contemporary, and exploring new facets of Rome. “Surface and Depth” is the second group exhibition of international artists organized by the Society for Embroidered Work (S.E.W.) and dedicated to contemporary textile art.

The event is part of the official Rome Art Week 2021 program and takes place from October 26 to 31 at Palazzo Velli Expo in Piazza Sant’Egidio, Rome.

Artists—members of the international society—will ship their works from all over the world to participate in this group show. It will be held in a 14th-century palazzo in the heart of Trastevere, one of Rome’s historic districts that has recently become a genuine creative hub for contemporary art—offering a unique blend of medieval surfaces and a soul filled with contemporary energy.

“Depth is not a pure void; it has a certain consistency, a thickness of its own... An artist is capable of expressing this by making it material, giving a ‘body’ to space and depth. Not merely alluding to it, but presenting it as if it were a concrete, material object,” wrote Jacques Rivière in his essay Contemporary Tendencies in Painting.

Through fabrics “sculpted” as if they were stone, the three-dimensional stitches of experimental embroidery, and the various found objects incorporated by S.E.W. artists into their work, the space and depth of contemporary embroidery take on a new meaning of materiality. In just a few years, we have witnessed rapid growth in the international art market for textile and fiber works—or "stitched art," a category that encompasses contemporary embroidery. Artists of an older generation, such as Sheila Hicks and Olga De Amaral, have become true stars of the international contemporary art scene. Simultaneously, a new generation of artists has emerged, using textile materials and fibers as mediums for artistic expression. A new generation of collectors has also formed—one that no longer adheres to rigid distinctions between "fine art," "contemporary craft," and "objects." The boundaries that once separated painting, sculpture, textiles, hand-weaving, and embroidery have vanished. The touch of an artist’s hand using stitches is now as appreciated and savored by art critics and collectors as a brushstroke once was. It signifies mastery and a blend of artistic and artisanal expertise, revealing the skilled individual behind the object or artwork. "Surface and Depth" showcases a "new wave" of artists who use thread as if it were paint or sculptural form. These artists expand our vision of what contemporary embroidery is and what it can become. The outdated notion of embroidery as mere "decoration" or "craft" is upended—if not entirely shattered—by these extraordinary artists. They dedicate their practice to significant social, scientific, and environmental themes, imbuing embroidery with a meaning that goes far beyond mere "surface."

The Society for Embroidered Work was founded in 2018 and now boasts 600 selected members across 43 countries. These artists create powerful, sometimes provocative works that challenge the traditional perception of embroidery within the fine art world. The Society’s primary aim is to promote stitched art as a high art form and to spread the idea that working with needle and thread is on par with using any other artistic medium, such as a pencil or paintbrush.

“Surface and Depth” showcases the exceptional quality of the works and the extensive research undertaken by these artists. The exhibition features experimental artworks centered on the theme specified by the curators. With around 70 artists from 13 countries presenting a mix of sculptures and framed pieces, the exhibition offers viewers a unique world of art that is diverse, unexpected, and bold.

The truly difficult—and indeed incredible—thing is to let go of the need to be perfect and begin the work of becoming oneself.

Who am I? What are my desires and needs? What am I seeking?

At least once in our lives, each of us has asked ourselves these questions, finding answers that are more or less satisfying, altering them as we evolve, or searching for ones that feel more fitting and consistent. When we interact with others, we are willing to reveal certain things about ourselves while keeping others hidden; we share what we know while remaining silent about other matters.

Romana’s photographs guide us into our own emotional window, touching upon the public, blind, private, and unknown areas of the self.

The public area refers to what we know about ourselves and what others know too—the manifest, illuminated side we constantly put out into the world, encompassing both our positive and negative traits. The blind area refers to aspects of ourselves that we do not recognize but that are visible to others—traits they observe in our behavior and mannerisms. The private area refers to what we know about ourselves but others do not; focusing on these aspects allows us to reflect on what we truly wish to conceal and what we are defending ourselves against.

Romana’s keen, meticulous, and empathetic eye will explore, above all, the unknown area—a realm containing aspects that are entirely unfamiliar to both ourselves and others.

It is here that the deepest layers of our being reside—layers that are, for the most part, unconscious. Bringing some of these aspects to light allows us to discover new facets of ourselves, connect with unexplored inner resources, or become aware of the emotional patterns we enact and carry into our relationships.

We often find ourselves reflecting on parts of ourselves that have remained unexplored, set aside, or hidden away for fear of judgment by others.

This can be daunting—much like the prospect of asking ourselves who we truly are and what we genuinely desire in life. Self-discovery can be frightening, yet it is also the most extraordinary journey we can undertake: a quest to find aspects of ourselves that are ready to be let go, as well as wonders and resources waiting to be discovered.

SOCIAL MEDIA FOR THE PROFESSIONAL WORLD

A unique event connecting major Italian companies with the world of social media—now an indispensable marketing tool.

Rome, May 28, 2021 – Palazzo Velli hosts a one-of-a-kind event from 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM, designed to showcase the potential that a platform like TikTok offers to major Italian companies.

Recent news highlights how the world’s most downloaded social media app is offering new opportunities to companies and associations. These organizations can plan marketing strategies tailored to their specific needs by utilizing the special interaction tools found in the TikTok Business section.

Eleven internationally renowned speakers, 15 Italian companies, and 25 final-year high school students—who are at the stage of choosing their professional paths and considering "new professions"—will discuss the opportunities offered by TikTok, the world's most powerful social media platform.

Organized by students from the IED Rome Continuing Education course in Event Management, this information day takes the form of an interactive showroom. Here, participants can explore and get hands-on experience with sponsorship opportunities for specific products or content, guided by content creators, social media strategists, digital marketers, influencers, journalists, and web professionals.

The experience includes: six TikTok sets themed around sports, fashion, culture, video games, cooking, and beauty, where participants can create perfect TikToks while immersing themselves in the "worlds" most popular among TikTokers; four NGO-themed TikTok sets created by WWF, UNHCR, Emergency, and Save the Children; and an "emotional room" where ASMR artist Petra Lo Coco invites the audience to experience the famous relaxation therapy known as Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response (ASMR), triggered by specific sounds the artist produces into a special microphone. Finally, there is the Consultation Room—a one-on-one meeting with TikTok content creator Michele Pierangeli. After carefully analyzing the profile of the company, association, or individual requesting the session, he will offer advice on how to set up a profile and keep it active and effective in achieving specific goals.

At the end of the session, guests will be invited to participate in round-table discussions, which will feature different agendas for the morning and afternoon.

The morning session will be dedicated to young people. Thirty Gen Z students from the ITIS Galilei Institute, coordinated by their Civic Education teacher Stefano Moretti, will visit the showroom to participate in a round-table discussion titled "New Roles and Ways of Working on Social Media: Beyond Just Fun." The discussion will aim to answer the question: "Is it true that TikTok is the employment agency of the future? Pros and cons."

The afternoon, meanwhile, will be entirely dedicated to businesses, with a round-table discussion centered on the theme: "Why Propose TikTok to Established Companies? All the Advantages."

“70INSIEME” (70 Together) marks the 70th birthday of the renowned singer-songwriter Claudio Baglioni.

The project stems from the specific desire of Barbara Melcarne—a painter, art curator, and longtime fan of the artist—to craft a bespoke, exclusive gift that celebrates this significant milestone in his life.

A simple gift would not suffice; it simply wasn't enough. "Deborah, I’ve decided: I want to organize an exhibition—a true event in his honor. Something that can evoke the same emotions in him that he has given all of us through his songs and music."

Painting, sculpture, poetry, and photography:

70 artworks, 70 artists, and 70 songs selected from Claudio Baglioni’s vast repertoire—songs that have defined his life—are paired together to create an "emotional journey." Here, the lyrics of his songs are interpreted through artworks that he either brought to life or inspired. Michele Caccamo—a mutual friend and co-curator of the event—is also participating.

It was no easy feat, given the logistical constraints of the pandemic and the "Neapolitan" style of organization, but it was made possible thanks to the tremendous organizational support provided by Elio Rumma.

The exhibition presentation will be followed by a series of literary gatherings throughout the week.

Palazzo Velli Expo in Rome will host the final chapter of the Rinascenza (Rebirth) painting cycle by Maestro Ciro Palumbo, curated by Luca Cantore d’Amore.

Drawing inspiration from Dürer and Botticelli, and moving through the influence of Leonardo, the painter now turns to the artistic greatness of Michelangelo. The Rome exhibition thus closes a series of circles—or "Worlds"—that gave shape to major exhibitions: first in 2018 at Palazzo Medici Riccardi in Florence, and subsequently in 2019 at the Museo Civico Palazzo della Penna in Perugia. It is a rich and compelling journey realized in collaboration with Alessandro Erra and Debora Santagata of the 7ettanta6ei Art Gallery, who were the driving force behind this project.

"The painter’s works are places of the soul—emotional, effervescent islands over which the master presides, before they erupt onto the canvas as a natural and inevitable consequence of his torment," notes critic Luca Cantore d’Amore. The artistic journey on display in the Capital is one of constant evolution and change, reflecting the period of social transformation we are currently experiencing. The versatile Palazzo Velli—built in the first half of the 14th century by the noble Velli family—will provide the setting for Ciro Palumbo’s “Rinascita” (Rebirth) exhibition.

The exhibition will also see the presentation of a catalogue curated by Luca Cantore D’Amore and published by Editoriale Giorgio Mondadori.

When cinema sets the trend

Discover the outfits that made cinema history through installations, videos, and performances.

Marilyn Monroe’s white full-skirted dress from the 1955 film The Seven Year Itch; the little black dress designed by Givenchy for Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany’s; the US Navy G-1 flight jacket worn by Tom Cruise in Top Gun—which became a trend among American youth in the late 1980s. The retrospective exhibition "Ciak, Si Moda" aims to explore this relationship of mutual influence between fashion and great cinema on February 29th at Palazzo Velli Expo, from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM.

Organized by students from the IED Rome "Event Management" specialization course—in collaboration with the Rome-based vintage shops King Size and Passepartout Beaucoup de Vintage—"Ciak, Si Moda" presents a curated selection of vintage garments inspired by iconic outfits from major films spanning the post-war era to the present day. It offers a comprehensive look at costumes that have left an indelible mark on the collective cultural imagination—transforming into street style—or, conversely, pieces created based on already established trends of the time.

The exhibition immerses visitors in a world where garments take center stage amidst themed rooms and walls, enhanced by images, projections, and panels offering fashion history insights and trivia. Two rooms are dedicated entirely to creative installations featuring outerwear and hats. It is a continuous interplay and blend of two realms with fluid boundaries, centered on the work of fashion designers and costume designers alike. The “Ciak, Si Moda” team has chosen to highlight specialized professionals from the world of film tailoring—and beyond—by interviewing them and creating a unique archive of documentaries to be screened exclusively during the event.

Key figures featured in these video documentaries include Stefano Dominella (President of Maison Gattinoni Couture), costume designers Nicoletta Ercole and Massimo Cantini Parrini, and fashion historians Sofia Gnoli and Bonizza Giordani Aragno.

Last but certainly not least, artists Giorgia Iannaccone, Loris Mercurio, Claudia Belliscioni, Chiara Santarelli, and Ruben Cozzolino will present performances inspired by the famous films Dirty Dancing, Chicago, and Pulp Fiction.

Actress Costantina Busignani will provide entertainment throughout the event.

Guests will be offered refreshments in collaboration with the catering company Oliver & Co. and VinoRè.

Vernissage Rome is a traveling social gathering that embraces cultural cross-pollination; it is a melting pot of art and culture that defines its identity through the simultaneous expression of various art forms.

Over seventy artists express themselves at Vernissage Rome, inspired by the omnipresent music—self-produced and emerging, transcendental and integral to the exhibition-event itself.

Vernissage Rome serves as a stage where artists can showcase and sell their creations completely free of charge. It invites the public into a space that sheds the formality of a traditional museum, making art and culture more accessible without ever compromising the quality of the performance, the art, or the music.

Street Art Giants United for the Environment

On January 24th, the exclusive setting of Palazzo Velli in Trastevere will host the second edition of Exit_Migrating into the Arts. This evocative event explores the phenomenon of migration from every angle through street art, focusing this year on migration driven by environmental change. For this edition, the cultural association FRAM!Lab has once again selected top-tier talent: MauPal, Moby Dick, Beetroot, Mauro Sgarbi, Luca Valerio D’Amico, Krayon, Giusy Guerriero, Umanamente in Bilico, and Er Pinto.

MauPal—one of Italy’s most acclaimed artists, known for his distinctive depictions of the Pope—will be joined by Moby Dick (who gives a voice to animals through his art), Beetroot (inventor of "Picture Crossing," where artists leave works on the street with contact details to see where they travel and end up), and Mauro Sgarbi (a surrealist street artist with a multidisciplinary approach). Together, they will create works based on the four elements specifically for the evening. Using breathtaking colors and techniques, these four artists will represent fire, water, earth, and air—the natural elements that form the basis of all matter.

Giusy Guerriero will deliver a sensational live performance. To showcase her work, a small corner of our vast world—pristine tropical rainforests—has been recreated for the first time inside a gallery room at Palazzo Velli. Krayon and Luca Valerio D’Amico will also exhibit works created specifically for the project's theme, accompanied by an intriguing collaboration between street poets Umanamente in Bilico and Er Pinto. Thus emerges an incredible and whimsical work, reminding us that—as comedian Milton Berle once said—if opportunity doesn’t knock, you have to build a door.

Rounding out the event are a reading by writer Marco Caponera—featuring excerpts from his novel L’isola di plastica (The Plastic Island)—and an art installation by Nicola Monti designed to make us reflect on the dire state of our planet. A major musical highlight this year is the appearance of performer, singer-songwriter, writer, and director Pentesilea, who will perform accompanied by a DJ set from Fabio Sestili (Ipologica). Guests can enjoy fine wines from Casale del Giglio and savory snacks, while children have fun exploring colors, elements, and technology, taking home a memento of the evening.

The primary goal of Exit and the cultural association FRAM!Lab is raising social awareness; to this end, the event supports a fundraiser for the organization Legambiente. Representatives attending include Roberto Scacchi, President of Legambiente Lazio, alongside members of the national organization. Exit is a fresh, creative, and emotionally engaging event that keeps pace with the times.

It chronicles the changes, possibilities, and evolutions facing our home—Earth—and all its inhabitants. The Amazon and Australia are burning, glaciers are melting, islands of plastic are forming in the oceans, and desertification is on the rise. This ongoing evolution, change, and transformation of the world is reflected in the very mirror in which we look at ourselves—for ultimately, we are also the world we inhabit.

Forms of Contemporary Communication Depicting Sustainable Agriculture within the Context of the 2014–2020 Rural Development Programmes (RDPs)" is the title of the event taking place on December 16th at Palazzo Velli Expo. Organized by the National Rural Network, the event aims to promote and showcase new artistic forms of communication and, above all, to draw public attention to issues surrounding rural development.

The National Rural Network (RRN) is the Italian program co-financed by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD) for the 2014–2020 programming period.

The program aims to support agricultural area development policies, with the ultimate goal of fostering the exchange of experiences and knowledge among sector professionals, institutions, and all those who live and work in rural areas.

Specifically, the December 16th initiative will focus on street art—a form of communication capable of telling the story of a theme central to rural development: sustainable agriculture.

Artists hailing from across Italy—from North to South—will compete against one another during this Rome-based event. The five artists selected for the contest at Palazzo Velli Expo will have 45 minutes to create their artworks based on the theme:

"Agriculture’s contribution to environmental, social, and economic sustainability."

Running concurrently will be a discussion forum on the opportunities and prospects for sustainable agriculture within the context of the 2014–2020 RDPs, featuring:

As part of the MArteLive Biennale, the CURATELA project features a series of artistic events organized by renowned curators who have developed exhibitions for the Biennale. One of these is the solo exhibition by Simona Poncia at Palazzo Velli Expo, titled “Nebbie” (Mists), curated by Oriana Rizzuto and Marco Ardizzi.

For the MArteLive Biennale, Palazzo Velli—a historic, multi-purpose space in the heart of Trastevere—will host an exhibition by the talented young photographer Simona Poncia. Her project, “Nebbie,” presents black-and-white images capturing structured atmospheres within fleeting, almost dreamlike moments. The exhibition will be held on the gallery's ground floor. “The images I seek to capture through my photography are timeless. I prefer black and white because it leaves no room for misunderstanding; it brings out the essence and purity of everything and lends a sense of sacredness to the image. Whether immersed in mysterious nature or swept up in the chaos of the city, it is silence that I seek—even where it appears to be absent.” This is how Simona Poncia describes her perspective on the world through her camera lens. “Fog makes everything more fascinating, allowing us to rediscover—in their true essence—landscapes we thought we knew. Things do not appear in their full complexity all at once but reveal themselves gradually, shaped by ever-changing light. For someone who loves black-and-white photography, fog offers enchanting, almost metaphysical scenes—until it vanishes, taking the dream it created along with it.” (Simona Poncia)

Alongside Poncia’s exhibition, there will be a distinctive selection of photographic works of great artistic significance. On the other floor of Palazzo Velli, works by renowned photographers will be on display—prints skillfully crafted by master analog printer Luciano Corvaglia. Corvaglia will also present "THE DARKROOM Project," a competition and workshop dedicated to young enthusiasts, focusing on the techniques and secrets of the darkroom.

The workshop-event is scheduled to take place at the Castle of Santa Severa in late January 2020. On Sunday the 8th at 5:00 PM and Tuesday the 10th at 6:00 PM, Corvaglia will discuss the project's key aspects and outline the experience that many young people can enjoy for free under the guidance of a professional master like himself.

To further illustrate "The Darkroom Project," the exhibition will feature not only photographic prints but also artist videos—such as Delirio di uno stampatore (A Printer’s Delirium)—in which well-known photographers share their phobias and obsessions regarding the perfection of photographic printing from a unique setting. Videos showcasing the main event at the Castle of Santa Severa—which will include exhibitions as well as live artistic and musical performances—will also be screened. November 20–24, 2019

Now in its third edition and building on the great success of previous events, Rome’s International Art and Culture Biennial is expanding to a second venue. The selected artists will be showcased not only at the Stadium of Domitian but also in the historic Palazzo Velli in the heart of Trastevere.

The curatorial team has long aimed to make this event as stimulating as possible; indeed, ever since the massive inaugural edition—which featured around 2,000 works by 540 artists from 54 countries—the vision has been to spread the exhibition across multiple locations within the city.

For this edition, central Rome becomes the event's hub, with two historic venues hosting the works of the artists who successfully passed the selection process. The artworks will be displayed along an engaging route connecting these two venues, which are located just a short distance apart. Art lovers, industry professionals, tourists, and the simply curious will combine a visit to this eternally fascinating, timeless city with the discovery of works by the participating contemporary artists.

The selection jury—kept confidential as a matter of curatorial policy—operates independently of the jury that will award the final prizes; they will select up to 150 works by 150 artists, representing a diverse range of artistic styles and techniques.

RomArt once again establishes itself as a magnet for those who find in art the perfect balance of aesthetic pleasure, meaningful messaging, creative exploration, discovery, and culture. With the distinctive charm of ancient Rome, the Stadium of Domitian remains a favorite venue for Canova, the organizer of this biennial exhibition—an event consistently rich in surprises and captivating artistic innovations. Palazzo Velli joins the initiative, opening its magnificent halls to the public—spaces that preserve the allure of Rome’s grand aristocratic palaces.

The mission remains to foster an exchange of passion and culture between distant nations that nonetheless share a common love for art.

"The Nation’s Greatest Treasure"

CCTV is pleased to present a screening of the film based on the documentary series "The Nation’s Greatest Treasure" on November 20th at the Pontifical University of Saint Thomas Aquinas in Rome.

Commissioned in 2017 by the Entertainment Channel of CCTV (China Central Television) and produced by CDIMC (CCTV Documentary International Media Co., Ltd.), a CCTV subsidiary, the project comprises 20 episodes across two seasons: Season 1 (2017) and Season 2 (2018).

"The Nation’s Greatest Treasures" has become a landmark series, showcasing major museums and their most significant treasures through engaging and thought-provoking documentaries. It offers unique insights into the heritage of each artifact, museum, and collection, highlighting their relevance in the modern era. The series featured 17 major museums and 54 of the country's most prized treasures. It was warmly received across China, attracting a total audience—spanning both linear broadcasting and online platforms—of 800 million viewers per season. Topics related to the show garnered over 1.88 billion views on Weibo, one of China's largest social media platforms, and participating museums saw visitor numbers rise by nearly 50%.

At the screening on November 20, 2019, General Manager Xiangdong Li will introduce the "The Nation’s Greatest Treasures" series and discuss the China Media Group, highlighting its significance within the Chinese media landscape.

The event, which aims to showcase young and emerging photography, features Slovak photographer Miro Švolík—known for his distinctively surrealist style—as its patron and guest of honor.

International Contemporary Art Exhibition – 2nd Edition (2019/2020)

#Contemporary is a project presented as part of the fourth edition of Rome Art Week 2019:

Conceived and curated by art historian Ilaria Giacobbi, this group exhibition highlights the vibrancy of the contemporary art scene while simultaneously serving as a socio-anthropological exploration of art—viewed as both a reflection and a manifesto of its era.

Part of the second edition of the #Contemporary Rome Art Award project, the exhibition regards art as a tool for liberation, expression, and creation. It speaks to us—and about us—in our own time, offering a conscious reconstruction that pursues a socio-anthropological perspective. The featured artworks have been selected to coexist within the space and time of Palazzo Velli; arranged with visionary flair, they aim to compose a symphony of pieces—a "macro-work" exhibition dedicated to contemporary art.

The project is a call to artists willing to go beyond mere display and become part of a conscious, collective act of re-creating the new world—a world addressed in their work either explicitly or through a critique of the old. With the eye of a participant-observer, the artist-curator skillfully orchestrates the construction of this "work of works." Nutrition and history are inextricably linked to each other. Everything we eat has its history.

L’antropologia culinaria che, nel corso del tempo, è diventata una disciplina riconosciuta, ci fa scoprire infiniti significati sullo sfondo delle nostre pietanze e dietro le monografie di grandi maestri c’è spesso una passione per la Cuisine e tutti i suoi ambiti che non esclude neppure Leonardo Da Vinci, celebre artista universale del Cinquecento, ma anche scenografo di banchetti festosi durante gli anni al servizio di Lorenzo Il Magnifico e da Ludovico il Moro a Milano, le cui cronache ci parlano di un Leonardo che era l’ideatore di elementi scenici di grande ingegno ma di altrettanto lusso, accompagnati da momenti ludici, e coreografie teatrali di danza e di canto.

Cinquecento anni dalla morte di Leonardo si sono formate numerose teorie che riguardano la sua arte culinaria, inizialmente combattuta e mal compresa, ma successivamente elogiata per le suntuose coreografie di grande suggestione.

Per ricordare questo lato meno conosciuto di Leonardo, Design for Everyday Life che si occupa della qualità della nostra vita quotidiana e di come nobilitare i mille gesti che la rendono vivibile attraverso la cultura, contribuisce con uno scenario artistico poetico dedicato ai costumi alimentari rinascimentali e alle loro pratiche.

Beth Vermeer conceived a project entitled:

“Cibarie Leonardesche” che parte dal collegamento tra storia, teoria e pratica culinaria per andare oltre il concetto dell’alimentazione ai tempi di Leonardo. Il cibo, come rammenta Roland Barthes, non è solo una selezione di prodotti usati per gli studi di statistica e di nutrizione, ma anche e soprattutto un sistema di comunicazione, un corpus di immagini, un protocollo di usanze, situazioni e comportamenti.Dopo il suo debutto fiorentino allo Studio Ottone Rosai e l’edizione svoltasi nell’ambito di Cassanoscienza 2019 in Puglia, la mostra collettiva “Cibarie Leonardesche” dedicata a Leonardo da Vinci e alla sua conoscenza culinaria, fa il suo terzo I travel to participate in the Rome Art Week.

L’applicazione della modalità di allestimento site-specific genera un progetto nuovo che si confronta con gli spazi ampi di Palazzo Velli Expo, che unisce egregiamente architettura storica e design contemporaneo.

Leonardo da Vinci and his creative attempts to modify the rites

behavior of people at the table, their relationship with food

in favor of a healthier life in harmony with nature.

Allo stesso tempo, ripercorrendo i suoi anni fiorentini, scopriamo le sue qualità propositive e coraggiose per trovare lavoro, pur trattasi di cucina, un lato sorprendente tra le sue numerose occupazioni ingegnose. La narrazione per capitoli della mostra che avviene grazie ad un corpus di quaranta opere già formalmente molto diverse, è un rebus che offre variegati accessi senza mai perdere la trama principale: l’uomo e l’alimentazione, il cibo e la sua simbologia, dal punto di vista religioso, biologico, alimentare, botanico, artistico, antropologico, partendo dal Rinascimento e dalle lezioni sempre attuali di Leonardo, precursore di una dieta semplice, naturale, salutare e in linea con i principi ecologici del presente.

Nel corso degli ultimi mesi la mostra ha ottenuto nuove adesioni da parte di artisti che hanno realizzato dei lavori come risultato delle loro ricerche e che sono legati alla prima parte della vita di

La mostra è corredata di un programma ricercato di eventi collaterali come due cene Cene à la Leonardo alla base di ricette rinascimentali, una performance di canti cinquecenteschi; an astronomy talk with electronic music; a contemporary dance choreography, a poetic reading and the poets' choir.
